These are the typical results you can expect when modifying your 2013-2020 BRZ/FRS/86. This was a completely stock FA20 FRS and we did 5 stages of modifications from stock and kept track of the results to compare. All of these results are uncorrected numbers which are 10-15% lower than you would expect to see on a Dynojet dyno or our “Shootout” numbers. For more information on comparing dyno numbers check out our dyno page.
Our starting point was completely stock. With no tuning, no modifications, and with 91 octane fuel.
This vehicle made 143.5 HP and 118.1 FtLb TQ on our Dyno. The factory rates these cars at 200 HP and 151 FtLb TQ at the crank.
Below you find the information of our findings along with dynographs for comparison. If you have any questions about building your 2013+ FRS/BRZ/86, give us a call (763) 316-5882.
This setup made – 147.8 HP / 121.0FtLb
Peak gains of 7HP and 9FtLb.
For our test we took our totally stock 2013 FRS and added a Grimmspeed Intake. On 91oct we were able to make 147.8 HP and 121.0 FtLb TQ. With our Stage 1 Tune we are already working on minimizing the 4000rpm Torque Dip and have increased power by 4-7 HP throughout the whole power band. We were able to make a 5% or 7 HP increase in Power at 7300rpm and 9% or 9 FtLb increase in torque at 4300rpm. You can expect a 5+ HP increase in power on 93oct.
This setup made – 152.3 HP / 120.8FtLb
Peak gains of 11HP and 4FtLb.
For our second test we did a few stages of adding parts to see what they gain individually. We first put on an Invidia Header. The car made 152.3HP and 120.8 FtLb TQ. With the stock tune and Header/Intake, the car started picking up power at 3500rpm and slowly increased power over stock till it peaked at 7% or 11 HP over Stock. At 4300rpm the car gained 4% or 4 FtLb of torque. That’s not bad for just bolting on a header. It definitely leaves power on the table when running a header with no tune but you still see gains from the header itself. The car was running leaner under full throttle then the stock tune so we definitely don’t recommend doing Header/Intake without a tune.
